-Portfolio- things I'm professionally and personally proud of Cyber Camp: a computer-based summer camp program designed for children ages 8-13 years old. I taught nearly 200 children every summer from 1999 - 2006, covering materials as diverse as Space Colonization, Medieval History, and Biology and Nature Studies. Each session consists of a guided tour of web pages on
a specific theme, as well as a craft that will take approximately 30
minutes. There were eight identical sessions of Cyber Camp each week, in York County alone. It became an integral part of our Summer Reading Club program, and spread to other Counties and States. Over the years, this program has garnered a lot of positive attention from being covered in local news, to presented at the state conference (twice) and also highlighted in The Youth Cybrarian's Guide By: Lisa Champelli. ISBN: 9781555704278 It was also tremendous amounts of fun. I was very sorry to have to pass this program to another staff member. Example page is here. Graphic Art and Design: something I enjoy tremendously is the ability to use my creativity at work. My friends benefit as well... I made this
Dach-box for a friend. She has has 2 chainsaws with
legs who masquerade as Dachshunds, who
have a propensity for chewing up medication bottles. Added to
her curious fascination with anatomy and the potential lethality (to
the dogs) of
the medication, the artwork seemed like a natural choice.![]() This neat design is a Gluckshaus board - a recreation of a dice board from Medieval Germany. Two other friends of mine had lost all their board games (and a ton of other stuff) in a flood, so I made them a board game that would float. Fun, useful, and a delicious sense of irony. |
